Welcome to Culmore Canines Bichons Frises

Patricia, Matthew, Gisella and Einstein Culmore welcome you to our Little Home on the Web! If you are interested in contacting us, please click on our
Weblog for regular updates, or send email by clicking on the Contact Us link at the bottom of any page. Then check out the rest of our site, get to know us, the breed we love, and how we keep them healthy and happy.

We are in Windsor, California, the Gateway to the Wine Country, where we live, Show and raise Bichons Frises dogs. It is our hobby and passion. After many years of sharing our home with Maltese, Poodles and our first Bichon, Sparkyles of Shannon Valley who we adopted in 1987, we fell so much in love with this wonderful breed of dogs that we felt we really needed to hand raise them in an incredible location and share the wonderful experience of dog companionship with others.

Now The Pack consists of a beautiful female, Gisella and Einstein, one of Estee’s sons, who competed in conformation events at dog shows starting in April 2008, winning 26 ribbons and awards and 7 points towards Champion, in less than 6 months. Also, in April 2008, we acquired Jubilee's Baroness Greta of Windsor, who has 13 Champions in 4 generations which make up her blood line. She is very international, having American, Canadian and Brazilian Champion lines. Estee, our Grand Dam with five litters of five puppies each to her credit, is in Dallas with my Mom to keep each other company. Please see the Litters, Photos and Movies pages for photo albums of all previous litters. Watch the Weblog for information regularly updated for puppies to adopt and when they will become available. Click on the menu items at the right to see each dogs individual profile and certifications and registrations.

On October 17, 2007 we were voted into the Mensona Kennel Club, based in Santa Rosa, CA. The name comes from the fact that members are from Mendocino, Sonoma, and Napa counties here in Northern California. It is an AKC All Breed Kennel Club since 1953 and this last August held their 102nd AKC Dog Show. As all dog clubs, the goals are the advancement of all breeds of pure bred dogs, the education of their owners and to conduct AKC events.

Culmore Canines Health Maintenance Program

We have selected all of our dogs with the highest standards for the pedigree and they are checked regularly for eye, hip, knee, elbows and have teeth cleaned, in addition to regular examinations. We believe keeping dogs active and hungry will keep them lean and healthy for a long and happy life. Below are some of the means we have chosen towards this result.

- Our dogs enjoy Science Diet Puppy Formula as puppies, Adult Formula in midlife and later low fat Science Diet as adults
- They get Zuke's Natural Treats, whether the Mini Naturals for training or the New Z-Filets, and daily Hip Action with added Glucosamine and Chondroitin and other vitamins and minerals for our mature dogs
- We also try to get a 10 - 25 % supplement daily of some seasonal combination of available fresh vegetables such as:
carrots, especially baby carrots, green beans, broccoli, asparagus, peas, spinach, pumpkin, and grass, be it yard or kitty, all animals occasionally need or want to eat grass
- And fresh fruit including:
apples, oranges, nectarines, pears, various melon types, bananas and banana chips but NO grapes or raisins. The meat of avocado is helpful for a beautiful coat.
- Rice cakes and other grains like a little dash of Quaker Oats in their food.
- We avoid any fatty treats or foods. Pigs ears and greasy chew sticks and all high fat foods are bad over time for dogs and can cause body fat as well as fats which leads to calcium build up in their eyes. Regular CERF (Canine Eye Research Foundation) exams are great to catch this before harm can be done. Diet change in dogs can yield noticeable results, as in people.
- Lots of handling, praise and treats.
- Crate train from the moment you first bring them home. It is a place of security and the first step in house training your dog.
- Learn Clicker Training. You and the dog will bond and love it, plus it may just save your dogs life.
-Microchip your dog.
- See our
Valuable Links page for further details and links to our favorite sites for happy, healthy pets.
- Our dogs have ready access to the back yard where they get a great deal of exercise.

As a result, they are very lean and sturdy with athlete's bodies and wonderful dispositions. We have been told that in person, the pictures of our dogs here do not do them justice. We think you would agree.

Feel free to contact us by selecting the email link below for references or for the status of any present or future litters of Estee or CoCo, or for Merlin's Stud Services.
